At the time of her birth, breeder Marion Richmond was suffering from a problem with her back and was unable to walk for several weeks. Marion continues “My mother’s driver laid me flat in the back of a station wagon and drove me out the farm, where he carried me into the paddock so that I could see Galal’s new filly. He lay me in the grass next to this exquisite filly, who had already at such a young age started to turn white.  I still have the photos, which are somewhat humorous in retrospect of me with Simona, laying in my brace in the grass, admiring the scenery.’

Her older sister Simeon Sukari was the glamorous one in the family, at that time flying the flag for Simeon in the show ring. Simeon Simona never graced the show ring herself, but her success as a producer has been truly remarkable. She was successfully outcrossed to Anaza Bay Shahh and bred back to her sire Asfour and her brother Simeon Sadik, proving the strength of her pedigree.

Tall and elegant with brilliant movement, her length of rein and sweet disposition  saw her appeal to admirers from all walks of life. Holger Ismer saw Simona as a yearling and admired her greatly, as did her many fans all over the world.

Simeon Stud retained five of her daughters, a record for any of their mares. The first, Simeon Soosa (by Simeon Sadik) has progeny in the US, South Africa and Dubai.

Simeon Simona was the dam of two incredible chestnut colts. Simeon Sochain (by Simeon Sadik) who was exported to the USA and Simeon Sadran (Asfour), exported to the USA and then onto the Middle East.

The full sisters Simeon Shalal and Simeon Simone, both by Asfour have progeny exported to Europe and the Middle East.

The fourth and fifth daughters of Simone are also full sisters, this time by Anaza Bay Shahh and both black. Simeon Shaddai and Simeon Shatkin are both young mares, but are proving themselves with their excellent progeny.
